Shincha (First Flush-2014)
Sencha, the standard of the green teas of Japan, represents about 80% of the varieties of green teas grown and produced exclusively in Japan. The freshly-picked tea leaves are steamed, lightly dried in a kiln and left intact in order that proper steeping will release the full flavor, bouquet and vibrant green to golden colors.
Sencha Yufune is a premium green tea from the Uji region, between Kyoto and Nara, and the setting for the world's oldest novel "The Tale of Genji" (1021 AD). Since that time the area has produced the finest green teas of Japan, analogous to the Bordeaux region of France and its exquisite wines. This delicate Sencha is characterized by a bright fragrance and crispness, slight astringency and a refreshing aftertaste.
